One of the most highly-anticipated summer attractions in York might not be happening this year as the official event page of the Shrewsbury Fireman’s Carnival has announced its cancellation. The cancellation is related to health and safety concerns due to COVID-19.
Their official statement can be found below:
It is with heavy hearts that we make this difficult decision. As the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company and community we want to take every precaution to stay safe and healthy. Given more guidance from state and local authority it is unfortunate that we have to make the decision to cancel the 2020 Shrewsbury Fireman’s Carnival, scheduled for June 22nd thru June 27th. With the current health and safety restrictions that are in place, the committee felt it is in the best interest of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company and community.
Once restrictions are lifted we plan to bring you several smaller events that will take place at the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company. More information to come.
We always enjoy hearing the laughs and seeing your smiling faces at the carnival. We look forward to making plans even bigger and better for the 2021 Shrewsbury Fireman’s Carnival.
The Shrewsbury Fireman’s Carnival is an annual carnival organized by the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company. The carnival is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers held during the final full week in June. Aside from the major carnival ride attractions, live entertainment, and great food will also be served. This event is always a fun experience for those who attend it.
Although this one won’t be happening this year, let’s hope that next year would be something to look forward to.
