As we are still in the COVID-19 Pandemic, where everyone is required to stay and work from home, the question is, how do you work effectively from home?
I have heard of a lot of stories of people saying that they prefer working outside of the house because they strictly follow a work-life balance. However, in the current situation that we are in, it’s almost impossible to go back to the office and do work as usual.
Susquehanna Signal is composed of individuals who work comfortably in their homes, giving you the latest news and features in and around Pennsylvania. As a way to help those who are still having a hard time working from home, we give you some of these tips that might help you out.
Follow a Schedule and Stick to It
Remember, Working from Home is a privilege—which means that you still have to stick to a schedule and don’t slack off. Set the alarm for you to wake up early, get yourself a bath, have breakfast, and have a cup of coffee before you start your day.
Have a Dedicated Working Area
Since you will be working from home until further notice, you must have at least a dedicated working area for you to focus on work without distractions whatsoever. Avoid placing things that might lose your focus on your work, like a game console or a mobile device. If you want to finish early, then you have to stick to the work plan until the end of your shift.
Avoid Social Media While You Work
One of the biggest reasons why you can’t seem to get the job done on time is that you are so focused on social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok can wait. Just focus on this couple of hours for doing something productive so that you’ll be able to enjoy these things at the end of the day.
Tell People Not To Disturb You During Your Work Hours
Be sure to inform your family members that you will be doing work on specific hours, and they shouldn’t disturb you (except for very urgent situations). In this way, you’ll be able to focus more and get the job done fast.
Don’t Forget to Take Breaks
Of course, similar to your office job, don’t forget to take some breaks in-between. Just make sure they don’t take too long. Have time to have some lunch or bond with your family for at least 30 minutes before you get back to your desk.
A Clean Workstation Helps You Focus
Having a clean and well-organized work station also does wonders. If you’re dealing with paperwork, be sure to place them in a file organizer or envelopes so you wouldn’t be too stressed looking for them. Put all your pens, highlighters, paper clips, and other office stuff in one place.
Do Not Look at Emails Anymore When It’s After Your Shift
Once it’s already past your work shift hours, do not look at work emails anymore. You deserve to relax at the end of the day. You have tomorrow for that.
These are all the tips that we can share. Don’t forget to practice a work-life balance even if you’re in the four corners of your home.
