If you drop by around the Mount Rose Avenue area in York, you probably know or have seen MariSal’s Pizza Shop. This veteran-owned pizza restaurant, like many of the food establishments in the country, is only serving either take-out or delivery as part of the statewide health guidelines.
While it seems business as usual, this pizza shop is doing more for its community as they have been busy providing free meals to kids and front-line workers during this ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The restaurant has been doing this since the closure of many schools in the area. The passion to help is just heartwarming as one of the owners is a nurse by trade. The owners of this great pizza shop are giving what they can do to the community in these current times.
MariSal’s Pizza shop offers FREE meals to all school-aged children from Monday to Friday, from 11am to 1pm. They will continue to do this until the end of the school. Aside from this, the restaurant has also donated food packs to several coronavirus test sites, hospitals, and more.
In their restaurant, they also have a food bin for people in need, in which customers and staff can donate things from toiletries, toilet paper, and perishables.
They have partnered with Community Progress in York as a match partner with the MATCH HOUR SPONSOR for Give Local York on May 1st. For every dollar donated to CPC from 4-5 p.m. during that day, MariSal’s will match that amount up to $500.
