Chris Shaffer, the Windsor Area Recreation Director wanted to find a way to engage the community during the pandemic. Normally they would be having the annual Yard Sale and Chicken Barbecue Event at Windsor Wonderland. Drawing many people from York County.

“Obviously this year we couldn’t have a yard sale”

Chris was looking for some ideas, and spoke with his friend Keven Lawrence who is the varsity Baseball Coach in Red Lion. they came up with the idea to collect Food donation items to support a local business who’s been feeding the local area children with free meals, Primo-Pizza, By Ryan.

Primo Pizza in Windsor has handed out thousands of free school lunches to children in the York County area, Chris and Keven thought it would be appropriate to help this initiative by collecting food donations, and anything that doesn’t go into a school lunch will be donated to Community Reach in Red Lion On Monday.

We've handed out over 2500 free school lunches since schools were closed. I want to personally thank all the volunteers,…

When asked how someone who missed this event would be able to find out more info. “Were looking into offering this again” “We weren’t sure what the turnout would be like, but out parking lot is full.” follow Windsor Rec on facebook

There were many volunteers helping with traffic and organizing the hundreds of cars coming and going through the parking lot. As more communities adapt to the difficulties of living life during a pandemic, creative people like Chris Shaffer and businesses Like Primo-Pizza By Ryan are surely in short supply.

Special thanks to the individuals who come out and support their communities with masks on.
