Dangerous Cold.
With today’s wind chill in the negatives; it means your exposure should be
limited to 30 minutes or you’ll risk frostbite.
Frostbite is when your cells in your body freeze. Your body-part, typically
ears, nose, fingers, and toes, are most susceptible. The tissue does not have
to be completely frozen for damage and blisters to form. The worst-case scenario is amputation.
If you think you’ve fallen victim to Frostbite, please seem medical
attention immediately. Symptoms include
- Sensory: pins and needles,
reduced sensation of touch, or stinging sensation - Also common: blistering, feeling cold, or waxy skin
- Skin: blue skin from poor circulation, stinging, or redness
