People assemble to party and “raid” Area 51. It’s called “Alienstock”

“AlienStock,” is the viral Facebook event that saw over 1 Million people join to “raid Area 51”, “They cant stop all of us.” After Matty Robers, a college student who jokingly started the event. “I just thought it would be a funny idea for the meme page,” Roberts told NPR.

There wasn’t much information. The entire plan was:

“We will all meet up in Rural Nevada and coordinate our parties. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.”

After the meme had gone mainstream Bud Light started the Area 51 Celebration in Downtown Las Vegas. to bring people into town where there is infrastructure to handle thousands of people.

But even now groups gather near Area 51 at Rachel, Nevada for Alienstock, an original grass roots event lasting form Sept 20-22.

Most people realize that “raiding Area 51” was a joke, and are only joining in for fun and to be a participant in the meme.
