Artemis From Women’s Retreats to Art Classes
In 2016, Owner Donna Deerin Ward started offering small woman’s retreats and a year later was installed into a beautiful antique Red Lion building offering a full suite of classes including Antigravity Aerial Fitness, Yoga, and Art Workshops.
Why Retreats? “There is a very special bond that women share together. and they sacrifice a lot of their time making sure that other people in their life are happy, they never pay attention to themselves.” Donna Said, ” It’s about self-care and it’s about helping them remember why they are important.”
Artemis: The Art of Living continues to innovate and has grown into two buildings in addition to their off-site retreat destination, and are now offering team building for small businesses and life coaching, massage services, and guitar lessons.
Artemis is attracting the attention of people all over York and Lancaster
“The space is absolutely gorgeous, unique, and relaxing.” said one google review and others are starting to take notice. “It’s an amazing business to have in town.”
Artemis’s atmosphere is something you need to experience to understand. “It’s one thing to practice Yoga in a sterile gym, it a completely different experience at Artemis.”
Artemis is located in Red Lion, PA at 30 N Main St. 3rd Floor.

What are the Health Benefits of Yoga?
Yoga focuses on your body’s natural tendency toward health and self-healing.
“The purpose of yoga is to build strength, awareness, and harmony in both the mind and body,” explains Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California.
“The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, and carpal tunnel syndrome,” explains Dr. Nevins.
Other physical benefits of yoga include:
- increased flexibility
- increased muscle strength and tone
- improved respiration, energy and vitality
- maintaining a balanced metabolism
- weight reduction
- cardio and circulatory health
- improved athletic performance
- protection from injury
Aside from the many physical benefits, one benefit that is considered by many to be the best is how it helps a person manage their stress, which is known to have devastating effects on the body and mind.
The incorporation of Yoga’s meditation and breathing helps improve a person’s mental well-being.
“Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention, and sharpens concentration,” says Dr. Nevins.
