In an effort to enhance road safety and promote adherence to traffic laws, a Traffic Safety Checkpoint was conducted yesterday evening ( 8/21/2024 ) from approximately 6 PM to 7 PM in the 200 block of E High St, Red Lion, an area known for an influx of traffic violations. This initiative, carried out by the Pennsylvania State Police, aims to educate the public, remind motorists of their responsibilities, and improve overall safety on the roadways.
Traffic Safety Checkpoints are periodic events where law enforcement sees increased traffic violations. Officials engage directly with the community, creating opportunities for positive interactions between the public and officers. Such checkpoints allow Troopers to remind motorists of existing laws and serve as a platform to encourage safe driving practices.
During yesterday’s checkpoint, Trooper Grothey Reports, officers made one arrest for drug possession and issued about five citations for various traffic offenses. In addition, approximately 30 warnings were provided to drivers regarding different vehicle and traffic violations. The primary goal of these efforts is to educate as many community members as possible about safe driving habits and to ensure that vehicles are maintained in safe operating condition.
By holding these checkpoints, law enforcement hopes to foster a safer environment for all road users and enhance awareness about traffic regulations among the motoring public.
